https://blinna.weebly.com/ Working on the Web Design assignment helped me develop important skills like creating responsive layouts, selecting color schemes, and organizing content clearly. I used contrast by placing dark text against a light background for readability, and alignment to make sure headings, images, and buttons were consistently arranged. I also applied proximity by grouping related content together, such as keeping all navigation links in one section for easier access. I enjoyed the creative freedom of designing a website that reflected my ideas, but coding some of the responsive features was challenging. These skills will be valuable in my future career for creating professional portfolios, instructional websites, or other digital resources. A creative way to use QR codes in my classroom would be to place them on worksheets or classroom posters that link to supplemental materials. For example, a QR code next to a diagram of the solar system could take students to ...

I looked through the new Florida Computer Science standards (effective July 2024) on the Florida DOE/CPALMS site, and one standard that explicitly involves technology is in the “Programming and Software Engineering” strand. For example, a standard states that students should “design, develop, and test modular programs to solve problems."  Florida Department of Education In my own words, this means students shouldn’t just write a long single block of code; rather, they should divide a problem into manageable pieces or functions (modules), write code for each piece, and then integrate and debug them. I feel somewhat prepared to implement this standard, because I have experience with programming concepts and breaking problems down into functions or modules. However, I know there’s more to it that I’ll need to deepen my knowledge about before teaching it confidently. In exploring the CPALMS Educator Toolkit for, say, Grade 4 Mathematics, I found that each standard has associated le...

Blogging has been an interesting experience for me because it gives me the chance to organize my thoughts and share them in a structured way. I like how blogging allows me to reflect on what I’m learning and put it into words, but sometimes I find it challenging to think of enough detail to write about. So far, I’ve learned that blogging requires both consistency and creativity, and that even small reflections can turn into meaningful posts. It has also helped me realize the importance of audience and how my writing might be viewed by others. Artificial intelligence in education seems both exciting and a little concerning. In a K-12 setting, AI could provide personalized learning experiences, help teachers manage their workload, and even give students new ways to learn material. However, I also think it raises questions about student privacy, over-reliance on technology, and making sure every student has equal access. My first impression is that it has potential to be a powerful tool,...

As a student, I have used MS Word extensively throughout both K–12 and my time at FSU. In K–12, it was the primary tool for writing essays, creating reports, and formatting assignments, which helped me learn the basics of typing, editing, and document organization. At FSU, I still use Word for more formal assignments, especially when formatting requirements are strict. However, I often prefer Google Docs because of its convenience, real-time collaboration, and automatic saving features, which make group projects and quick edits much easier. Out of the ISTE Standards for Educators, the one that stands out most to me is the “Facilitator” standard. I find it meaningful because it emphasizes guiding students in taking ownership of their learning while using technology to deepen understanding. I have learned that it’s less about giving students the “right answers” and more about equipping them with digital tools and strategies to solve problems on their own. A lingering question I have is ...

In this class, I hope to learn how to use technology effectively in education. I want to understand not just the tools, but also strategies for using them to help students learn. In the future, I plan to apply these skills in my career by creating lessons that engage learners and prepare them for a technology-driven world. Learning how to use technology responsibly will also help me grow as a lifelong learner. My prior experiences with technology in education have included using platforms like Google Classroom and Canvas to manage assignments and communicate with teachers. I have also used Google Docs and Zoom for group projects and collaboration. These experiences have shown me both the advantages of technology and the challenges when it doesn’t work as expected. My personal learning networks include both online and offline resources. I enjoy learning about topics like history, writing, and music. Online, I use YouTube tutorials, podcasts, and articles to explore these subjects. O...
